Lynn Fountain Campbell - Owner of the Shear Perfection BlogWelcome to my blog.  The reason I created it is basically to stay in touch and let people know I’m OK.  Why is this necessary?

Well, once upon a time, I was a Scientologist.  I devoted several decades of my life to it and used it as the cornerstone of my existence, including operating my hair salon in their neighborhood, where they used to be half of my customer base.  But in the end, it didn’t work out.  When I left the cult, their members left me.  End of story.  And I hope we all live happily ever after.

People keep telling me I should write my Scientology story.  Well, I just did.  Ta-daaah!  And now for my encore, I will perform for you the death-defying feat of surviving as an ex-Scientologist in a Scientology neighborhood.  They’re hoping I’ll crash and burn, of course, and some days I do.

So you crash and burn.  And then you find out it’s not the end of the world.  Then you hit the reset button and go on and reinvent yourself.  Which is a continuous process, as anybody who’s ever done it can tell you.

In this blog, I’ll tell you the things I’m doing – or trying to do. And if it all begins to go horribly wrong, we’ll know I’ve become a victim of their “Fair Game” policy (which you can google).  I’m hoping it won’t come to that though.  Bullies tend to back off when you stand up to them. And so far, so good.  I’m still here.  Still running the salon and now exploring the world around me, now that I’ve popped out of the cult bubble.  In the words of the illustrious Buddha, I am awake.  I want to see what’s really going on in the world.  I want to appreciate the beauty of it.  I want to tell you what I find.  I still do hair, of course.  So I’ll still have things to say about that.  But the physical work of doing hair is not the kind of thing you can do 24/7.  At some point, you have to go home and put your feet up.  And we do talk about things other than hair in the shop, so if we get into any interesting topics of conversation, I’ll let you know about those things too.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I’ll publish a post once a week, probably on Wednesdays, and will send out an email to let you know a new one is up.  Feel free to hold me to that promise.  If you ever don’t get the email, or if you visit the blog on a Wednesday and there’s nothing new, hopefully I don’t  need anything more than a light whack on the butt to get me going, and you won’t have to call 9-1-1 or anything.

So if you want to hang out again, here’s how you can get hold of me.  All you have to do is subscribe, using the form in the sidebar.  That way, you’ll be sure not to miss anything.  You can also follow me on Twitter here and friend me on Facebook here (send a message to let me know you came from the blog).  And of course, you can always comment below any of my posts.  I read every comment, so it’s easy to get my attention.

So this is my blog.  I hope you enjoy it.
